“Cottage Cheese thighs. Diet? Exercise? Forget about it. Once you have cellulite, you’ll never get rid of it.” Or, at least, that used to be the case.

In his new book The Cellulite Cure, with a release date set for April/May, 2006, Dr. Lionel Bissoon explains the latest scientific breakthroughs in the prevention and treatment of this all-too-common condition affecting nearly 90 percent of women. In the book, Dr. Bissoon discusses the genesis of Mesotherapy, the only treatment which addresses the cause of cellulite, rather than the symptoms, and he explains why other treatment regimens simply do not work..

Despite the title, The Cellulite Cure not only gives readers the true cure for cellulite, but it explains why so many attempts to conquer this unsightly problem fail. For example, Dr. Bissoon shows why even the most sensible, healthy diet and rigorous exercise will not eliminate cellulite – and why creams, lotions or massages that claim to get rid of the condition are just that -- claims, and nothing more.

The book also explains how a simple change in wardrobe could be your most effective preventative technique!

But that’s not all. While The Cellulite Cure is chock full of myths that supposedly contribute to and eliminate this condition, the book also shows why obesity has little if nothing to do with cellulite, why so many women have it, and why so few men suffer from it. Complete with personal case histories, hundreds of before-and-after photos, and straight-forward advice, Dr. Bissoon shows readers there’s no reason that they will ever have to live with cottage cheese marks again.

Dr. Lionel Bissoon is Founder of the American Board of Mesotherapy and a member of the French Society of Mesotherapy. Dr. Bissoon received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University, Iowa, and went on to complete a rotating internship in medicine, one year of general surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, NJ, and training in Aerospace Medicine. He also served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, Dr. Bissoon completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mt. Sinai, New York.

Dr. Bissoon began his practice in Physiatry with an emphasis in sports medicine. Upon his return to the U.S. from Europe he was only the third practitioner in the country practicing Mesotherapy. Due to limited resources, Dr. Bissoon began performing extensive research in traditional pharmaceutical medications, homeopathic medications and the use of vitamins. Based on his research, Dr. Bissoon developed formulas that previously did not exist. These advanced formulas, techniques and treatments were helpful in treating various skin conditions. He achieved remarkable results. Within a short time, Dr. Bissoon surpassed his mentors and within a year he became the leading expert in the United States. His American colleagues began seeking his expertise.

Dr. Bissoon has been training medical doctors for over three years and most recently with the Bissoon Institute of Mesotherapy. Due to his continuing efforts, Mesotherapy is now one of the most sought after medical specialties and has become well known and accepted in the United States. Dr. Bissoon also is a featured guest and contributor to some of America's most popular television programs and magazines. He practices mesotherapy in New York City, Palm Beach and Los Angeles.

According to Dr. Michael Pistor, the founding father of Mesotherapy, Mesotherapy is "surgical medicine," that is, medications are injected directly into the dermis at the site of pathology or condition being treated. Mesotherapy introduces microscopic quantities of natural extracts, homeopathic agents, pharmaceuticals and vitamins into the skin to treat a variety of conditions.

Its advantages include the elimination of side effects and contraindications associated with many medications. Intolerance to a medication is often triggered when it reaches parts of the body that have no need for it. In many cases, previously intolerant patients can tolerate the drugs in Mesotherapeutic form. Once the medication is delivered, the body is stimulated to heal itself. Because the target areas are immediately reached with undiluted medication, the amounts needed are reduced, making Mesotherapy more cost effective and more instantaneous. The microinjections are relatively painless, and side effects are limited to minor bruising.
