Dr. Lionel Bissoon is pleased to announce that Laser
Hair Removal will be available at Mesotherapie&Estetik. Dr.
Jeffrey H. Schorr is our laser hair removal specialist as well as specializing
in Mesotherapy, Sclerotherapy and wrinkle
fillers.
Imagine never having to shave again! Dr. Schorr uses the Lightsheer(TM)
diode laser system to remove unwanted hair from any region of the body in both
men and women. The LightSheer system was designed from the ground up for effective
hair removal, providing unsurpassed safety and efficacy, reliability, and ease-of-use.
Its advanced high-power diode technology delivers high fluence combined with
a large spot size, user-selected pulse width, aggressive contact cooling and
compression for high-performance unmatched by other high-tech hair removal systems.
Both in rigorous scientific trials as well as extensive clinical practice, LightSheer
system has emerged as the gold standard in laser hair removal.
This FDA approved permanent laser hair removal system is effective
at removing unwanted hair from the face, neck, underarms, bikini area, chest,
breasts, back, legs and other areas. It is a great alternative to shaving,
waxing and electrolysis, none of which are permanent. The LightSheer Diode
Laser System's design provides for enhanced comfort during treatment, minimal
risk of infection, speed and accuracy. Since it is non-invasive (no needles to
penetrate the skin), the risk of introducing bacteria into the skin is reduced.
Because the system is fast, it allows for larger areas to be treated, considerably
increasing the efficiency of the hair removal process.
Is Laser Hair Removal painful?
There is minimal discomfort during treatments however certain areas
are more sensitive than others. A topical anesthetic is available for those who
cannot tolerate the tingling or stinging sensation during treatment. Discomfort
similar to a mild sunburn may be noted over the first 24 hours.
How many treatments are required?
The LightSheer laser works by disrupting hairs that are in the active phase of
growth at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter the growth phase
at different times, additional treatments will be necessary to disable all hair
follicles in a given area. Treatments are usually given at intervals of approximately
4-6 weeks, or whenever new hair growth is first noticed. Many patients are completely
satisfied with their results after only a couple of treatments, while others
will need four or five treatments for maximum removal of all hair. Treatment
times vary from a few minutes for areas such as the chin and neck to a few hours
for extensive areas of the legs, back and chest.
What happens after treatment?
Within several minutes, the treated area may become pink and a little puffy.
This reaction subsides quickly and within a day or so the areas return to normal.
However, you should not plan any important social engagements during the first
several days after your treatment, especially if the treated areas are on the
face.
Around 3-10 days after treatment you may experience what seems to be hairs re-growing.
Most of these hairs, however, are dead, treated hairs that are being shed and
are not regrowing. In between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hairs
because this decreases the ability of the laser to destroy actively growing hairs.
Who is a good candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
The Laser beam finds the hair follicles by targeting the substance that gives
skin and hair dark color - melanin. Therefore, the ideal candidate
for laser has dark hair and light to medium skintone. The laser will not
work on people with red, white, gray or true blond hair. The laser light
will also be attracted to the melanin in the skin, so people with suntans, or
dark skin types are at more of a risk for discoloration of pigment and other
side effects.
How much does it cost?
During your initial consultation the areas to be treated will be determined and
a fee quote per treatment session will be given to you. The fee for re-treatment
sessions at one to two month intervals may be the same or less than the initial
treatment depending on the extent of follow-up treatment needed.
Our goal is to provide safe, effective and affordable laser treatments for patients
wishing to avail themselves of this service. Please note that just because a
spa may offer laser hair removal does make the staff qualified. Patients should
always seek treatments by a medical doctor.
